It is an extraordinary privilege to represent you in the United States Congress!

Since 1867, twenty-nine Nebraskans have been elected to serve in Congress as the First District Representative. A look back at the history shows that one person served for only two days, another for twenty-five years! But what has endured are the exceptional values of our state. Nebraska is a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. Our communities preserve the ideals of small town pride. We place strong emphasis on hard work, opportunity, education, faith and family.

At the edge of the Great Plains of America, the First Congressional District reflects the exceptional diversity of Nebraska–vast rolling farmland; wildlife habitat; the Platte, Elkhorn, and Missouri Rivers; the State Capitol; Husker football; Offutt Air Force Base and Strategic Command. I am proud of our extraordinary heritage.

Despite the significant challenges our nation faces and the divisiveness that too often stifles creative thinking and collaboration in Congress, I believe there’s nothing wrong with America that can’t be fixed by what’s right in America. And I believe that Nebraska, with our determined focus on community life and pragmatic governance, has much to offer America by way of example.

In Congress my priorities are economic security, national security, and family security. The strength of the nation ultimately depends upon the strength of families and communities. I am committed to meeting the challenges of these times with fiscally prudent public policies, guided by the lasting principles of goodness and justice, and built upon the solemn traditions of our country. Thank you for the opportunity to serve!
