1. Always include your contact information.
Most papers will only print a letter to the editor after calling the author to verify his or her identity and address. Don’t forget to include your phone number and, if applicable, a work number as well.
2. Be clear and concise.
Keep your opinions brief and to the point. A good length for a letter should be under 250 words.
3. State your point early.
Be sure to state your main point in the first sentence of the letter.
4. Keep to one topic.
Always stay focused on one topic.
